THE ROWAN REPORT

Spring in the West Country...The Birth of a Leaf

It is spring in the west country of England and the rowan leaves are now awakening from a long winters sleep.

The warmth of spring awakens the leaf.

In April...a tiny rowan leaf unfurling

Flower buds spring up with the newly formed leaves.

Later in the spring, the rowan tree will develop beautiful white flowers.

The flowers soon turn into berries.

Summer in the West Country..Magical Berries

During June, the berries that appear on the rowan tree are green with a slight touch of pale orange just beginning to appear.

Midsummer

By late July or early August, the rowan berries have now turned a pale orange.

The berries in late July are a lovely medium orange

Once late August  has arrived  in the West Country of England , the berries on the rowan trees have turned a brilliant orange red. The birds will soon be feasting on them . Let's hope they leave a few on the tree for me to pick and dry for craft making.
